Spain were the 2010 World Cup winners but in 2014 were eliminated at the group stage. Qualifying from the group will not be an issue and bookies have them tipped as the favourites to be Group B Winners. Spain took 28 points from 30 during qualifying in the build up to Russia 2018. Only losing 2 points during qualifying should stand them in good stead for the rest of the tournament but they have been here before, in fact prior to Euro 2016 they were only beaten once and in the run up to major tournaments in 2014, 212, 2010, 2006, 2002, 1998 and 1996 they were unbeaten. So there success at qualifying might not mean anything.

World Cup Record
Since 1930 they have a superb record when it comes to qualifying for the tournament, only failing to qualify on 4 occasions. They were title holders in 2010, but in 2014 were eliminated at the group stage. They have only been knocked out at the group stage on 3 occasions since 1978 (1978, 1998 and 2014). So they stand a good chance of making it to the last 16 or the quarter finals. They have never been knocked out at during the semi-finals.
Whilst they are the bookies favourites to be group B winners they are unlikely to go on to be winners for a second time. They will probably do very well against Portugal during the group stage. In the last 16 they might meet the group A winner, but it is more likely that they will meet the group A runner up. We can’t see them being knocked out by Uruguay or Russia so will probably meet Argentina or Denmark in the quarter finals which could be a more difficult match. We predict that they will get knocked out at the semi-finals this time around.
